BMI, Yuengling, and Brooklyn Brewery present

Jingle Ball 8 off 8th

Nashville Scene Critic's Pick …

’Tis the season … for mistletoe kisses, ill-fated family gatherings, shit weather and rising suicide rates. But before you let that bum you out, remember there will also be music. If you’re looking for sonic holiday cheer, and Bing Crosby and Nat King Cole don’t do the trick, consider tonight’s Jingle Ball 2013 Yuletide mini-fest on Cannery Row. Typically, Mercy Lounge and BMI’s long-loved, long-running 8 off 8th boasts, as advertised, 8 bands playing short sets on a single stage — think of it as Nashville’s weekly musical equivalent to Hanukkah. Tonight’s Jingle Ball installment, however, utilizes some U2-style math, augmenting the 8-off concept to include 14 (catorce!) artists performing on both the Mercy Lounge and High Watt stages. Among the local and regional rockers and rappers giving the gift of music on this all-killer, no-filler holiday bill are glam-psych favorites Majestico, trad-rock troopers Kingston Springs, Bowling Green’s own Buffalo Rodeo, shoegaze-inspired speaker peakers Plastic Visions, Lightning 100-ready pop-rockers The Young International and local emcees the likes of Jung Youth and Classic Williams.
