Codaphonic Album Release feat. Photo Ops & Harrison Hudson

Nashville Scene Critic's Pick …

A scan of Cody Newman’s output as Codaphonic will bring to mind the breeziest, jingliest and most easygoing power pop from the ’60s through the ’90s — Badfinger, Nick Lowe, Tommy Tutone, Superdrag and more. And as it turns out, beneath Newman’s lithe bass lines, punchy hooks, tight instrumentation and well-rounded pop arrangements are the hallmarks of a consistently excellent songwriter: It’s more than just glossy production, clean vocal harmonies and dexterous playing — it’s really memorable songwriting. Tonight, Codaphonic celebrates the release of a pair of EPs that will serve as flip sides of one vinyl record: Mindwrecker and Oh Radio!, each named for the respective EP’s opening track and released by YK Records. Opening will be likeminded local rock outfits Photo Ops and Harrison Hudson.
