Fly Golden Eagle w/Majestico, QuicheNight & Blank Range

Nashville Scene Critic's Pick …

Oh hey, a local bill this well-rounded and straight-up excellent doesn’t come along every weekend. Topping tonight’s lineup are local psych-pop destroyers Fly Golden Eagle, who haven’t released a proper album since 2011’s gem-riddled Swagger, probably due to the nonstop touring they’ve been doing over the past two years. After winning an installment of Mercy Lounge’s 2012 Road to Bonnaroo competition and securing themselves a set at the Manchester, Tenn.-based fest, FGE went on to open several dates for their sometime collaborators, Southern blues-rock sensations Alabama Shakes. Fellow psychedelic rock outfit Majestico — which is fronted by local wild man Graham Fitzpenn and typically shares at least a member or two with Fly Golden Eagle — also recently played some dates with the Shakes. Brett Rosenberg’s Quichenight landed in the Scene’s recent Top Local Albums of 2013 critics’ poll with Quichenight III, a charming and smart collection of lo-fi bedroom power-pop tunes that Rosenberg somehow managed to record between his gigs as sideman in brainy garage-punk outfit PUJOL. Rounding out the bill are newcomers Blank Range, who marry really strong, punky Southern songwriting with Replacements-esque nonchalance.
