Christmas Bluegrass Benefit Concert for the Homeless feat. Valerie Smith, the Roland White Band, Jesse McReynolds & more

Bluegrass
Nashville Scene Critic's Pick …

When people have put on an event 14 years in a row, it’s perfectly legit to call it a tradition — and that’s definitely the case with this multi-act, Christmas-themed concert fundraiser for Room In the Inn. It only makes sense to keep it going, given that Nashville’s homeless residents will always need warm places to sleep and hot meals when the temperature takes a dive. It’s fitting that this lineup is so rich in bluegrass pedigree, what with first-generation mandolin cross-picker Jesse McReynolds; Roland White, who played not a small role in the California scene of the ’60s; Randy Waller, son of the Country Gentlemen’s standard-setting singer-guitarist Charlie Waller; and a good many other musicians who have made, and are still making, sizable contributions to the tradition.
