Annie Sellick Album Release

Nashville Scene Critic's Pick …

The pure tones of Nashville-based jazz singer Annie Sellick’s voice are the bedrock of her flexible style. Then there’s her canny phrasing, range and control. That versatility is put to the test on her new album, the collection of holiday tunes Let’s Make A Christmas Memory. Sure, there are favorites like “Winter Wonderland” and the default duet for jazz and blues singers “Baby It’s Cold Outside.” But Sellick — a disciple of Anita O’Day — also unfurls her clarion tones on the 16th century melody of “Bring a Torch, Jeanette Isabella,” and she and her husband, guitarist/harmonica player Pat Bergeson, bring two original songs to the mix, including the title track. On the album, they’re supported by a coterie of local jazz MVPs. At this release show, Sellick and Bergeson will be backed by the Nashville Jazz Orchestra. The Blair Big Band opens.
