Keb’ Mo’ and Friends Benefit Concert at Studio Gallery at FontanelBlues
Keb’ Mo’s recent Monday Night Blues series has featured such Nashville guitarists as Colin Linden and Brad Paisley, and tonight’s show finds the blues-pop singer playing with a brace of Music City singer-songwriters. Over the years, Keb’ Mo’ has been an interesting figure — his penchant for crossover has resulted in covers of Eagles songs and other moments undreamed of in Skip James’ philosophy. Live, Mo’ shows his stuff when he lays into a 12/8 blues groove or covers Ellington Jordan and Etta James’ classic “I’d Rather Go Blind.” He’s also contributed licks to blues revivalist David Bromberg’s 2011 album Use Me. In short, he’s a blues eclectic for our time, and you can catch him this evening performing in the round with Beth Nielsen Chapman, J.T. Hodges and Casey Wasner to benefit Nashville’s Abintra Montessori School.
