All We Seabees w/Jasmin Kaset & Shoot the Mountain
When local bands dissolve, members often go on to bigger and better things. But it still leaves a hole in our hearts when they head to the indeterminate-hiatus underworld. For those who’ve loved and lost, 2013 has been an exceptional year, with reunion shows that were far more than a nostalgia trip from groups such as Hotpipes and Self. Before the calendar runs out, there’s one more on deck. All We Seabees’ eloquent, pissed-off punk-folk was a Nash-freesboro staple in the late Aughts, and tonight’s one-off get-together is their first since 2009 (second if you count the secret warmup show at a friend’s house the night before). Not unlike Built to Spill, sometimes-local Joe Blankenship’s noisy, contemplative rock visions have taken on plenty of different forms, but he brings them all home tonight as Shoot the Mountain. Jasmin Kaset, one half of blue comedy country duo Birdcloud, rounds out the set with an excellent new version of her group.
