The Ornaments Present A Charlie Brown Christmas
So much sappy Christmas music blares from radios, TVs and big-box store P.A. systems this time of year that you can suffer the audio equivalent of sugar shock. But one Christmas classic just keeps getting better over time: Vince Guaraldi’s soundtrack for A Charlie Brown Christmas. In fact, when it comes to spine-tingling Yuletide tunes, “Christmastime Is Here” is right up there with “Dance of the Sugar Plum Fairy.” Under the direction of pianist Jen Gunderman (and featuring bassist James Haggerty and Martin Lynds), The Ornaments have been performing the album annually for seven years, and it’s turned into one of the most anticipated winter events in East Nashville, with pretty much all the shows selling out. In addition to a week of twice-nightly shows at the Family Wash, the Ornaments are doing a special morning show for kids at The Belcourt on Saturday, Dec. 21. Expect different guest soloists at each performance — all the more reason to see it more than once. All shows are $7, and reservations are recommended at the Family Wash.
