Travis Tritt and Friends Live Acoustic DVD Shoot

Nashville Scene Critic's Pick …

Circa 1989, a cadre of country singers with a new mix of traditional and contemporary sounds broke into the mainstream, paving the way for the pop-country powerhouse that is today’s Music Row. The one who most prefigured present-day country audiences’ affinity for rock ’n’ roll is Travis Tritt, who earned multiple Grammy and CMA Awards and sold millions of albums while tipping his hat — albeit a figurative one, since Tritt never took a shine to the Stetson like Garth Brooks and his other contemporaries did — to Southern rock and blues as much as honky-tonk and gospel. Tritt celebrates his silver anniversary in the business with a two-night acoustic stand, which will be filmed for a DVD. Several special guests will drop by, including Kid Rock, who is slated to appear at tonight’s show, and longtime Tritt collaborator Marty Stuart, who will appear at tomorrow’s performance.
