Electric Western New Year's Dance Party feat. Steelism, DJ Reno Bo & more

Nashville Scene Critic's Pick …

The 5 Spot continues to be East Nashville’s hippest venue to ring in the New Year — even if the year they’re ringing in happens to actually be an old one. In years past, local label/promoters Electric Western (the crew behind The 5 Spot’s popular Keep on Movin’ Monday night dance parties) have hosted sold-out Roaring ’20s-themed soirees at the Spot. This year, they bump things forward a few decades with a dose of the ’60s, courtesy of swingin’ local instrumental outfit Steelism. Steelism makes a sort of funk-, country- and soul-imbued party music that would have been right at home next to Booker T. and the MGs on the Stax Records roster. For this party, Steelism promises a “stylized set of originals and 1960s favorites.” The festivities include a free photo booth, a complimentary midnight bubbly toast and a set from Keep on Movin’ DJ Reno Bo.
